TELEKINESIS (aka Michael Benjamin Lerner) has new music for you, namely his third album on Merge Records, which has arrived in the form of Dormarion. The album’s unusual title stems from where it was recorded, specifically Spoon drummer Jim Eno’s recording studio in Austin, Texas, which is on a road called Dormarion Lane. The album’s first single, “Ghosts and Creatures,” indicates a more minimalist sound for Telekinesis, with careful production and an indie feel.

MUMFORD AND SONS’ Marcus Mumford has teamed up with Justin Timberlake to record some tracks for the soundtrack of the new Coen Brothers movie, Inside Llewyn Davis, which is due out later this year. The film focuses on a fictional music trying to make it big in New York City in the 1960s, and stars Timberlake alongside Mumford’s real life wife, actress Carey Mulligan.

THE LIBERTINES’ Carl Barat is teaming up with the legendary Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and drummer Andy Burrows of Razorlight to assist him with what will be his sophomore solo set, the follow-up to his 2010 solo debut, which focused on piano-anchored tracks. This time, Barat’s album will be more guitar-based (what else would you expect with Marr along for the ride?), although he did invite indie-balladeer Ed Harcourt to play piano on at least one song.
