IMOGEN HEAP’S fourth studio album, Sparks, is set for release in early 2014 on RCA Records, in two editions including one standard set with all 14 new Heap tracks, and a deluxe box set with a plethora of bonus goodies including music videos, a special deck of playing cards linked to exclusive web content, and a big coffee-table book. Fans who pre-order the box set are also being asked to send in photos of their footprints, which Heap will reportedly use to help create the box set’s cover art. The box set will hit outlets on February 24, with the standard CD album following a week later on March 3. Heap, perpetually busy, also recently showed off her geek cred with an AMA (Ask Me Anything) interview on Reddit.

DEADMAU5, Kaskade, Major Lazer, Icona Pop, Krewella, and Above and Beyond are among the groups set to help close out the old year at Dallas, Texas’ Lights All Night two-evening EDM celebration. The hugely danceable event, which will take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center, is now set for December 27-28, and will feature two stages each night with 4-6 acts on each. A sister Lights All Night New Year’s Eve spectacular is also set for Mexico City at the Pepsi Centre, with that lineup to be announced soon.

STING’S latest album, The Last Ship, also has its songs slated for a musical that’s planned to open in spring 2014 in Chicago, with a Broadway (NYC) premiere in the works for next fall. Sting, who’s calling the play “an evolving thing,” says that the play itself is pretty much completed, but he’s shifting around some of the songs, and that the album includes some “extra” tracks that may not be part of the musical, but that are still part of the theme of the show. Sting fans might also be interested to know that in addition to The Last Ship’s new tunes, some older songs of Sting’s, including “The Soul Cages,” “When We Dance,” and “All This Time,” are likely to be included in the stage musical.
