IMAGINE DRAGONS are busily packing their suitcases in preparation for their 2014 arena tour schedule, which will find them departing this week to kick off a longgggg schedule of shows that started in Los Angeles late in January. The recent Grammy Award winners (for Best Rock Performance for single “Radioactive” at the 2014 ceremonies) – who also sang up a storm of impressive harmonies last night at the 50th anniversary CBS show in honour of The Beatles – told the press that they’ve already started writing new songs for their next album, but given their current live show obligations, they’re in no hurry to drop another recorded set until they’re happy with it.

SWEETHEART 2014 is the name of a new album offering from (ahem) Starbucks, so you can pick up an espresso con panna and some pretty cool Valentine’s-themed tunes this week. The set, put together by Hear Music, is actually the fifth in this cover songs series (also available digitally, as well as at Starbucks locations), and the 2014 edition includes tracks by Beck (covering John Lennon’s “Love”), Vampire Weekend (doing an ‘inspired by’ version of Andrea Bocelli’s “Con Te Partiro”), Fiona Apple with her sister Maude Maggart (singing the ’50s vintage tune “I’m in the Middle of a Riddle”) and Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings doing heartfelt justice to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours.”

THE BRIT AWARDS are set to hit the O2 in London next week (February 19) with Doctor Who/One Chance actor James Corden as this year’s host. Up for the awards themselves are the likes of David Bowie, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Tom Odell, recent Grammy winners Daft Punk, Kings of Leon, and Jake Bugg, with performances scheduled from the aforementioned Goulding and Bastille, plus Bruno Mars, Pharrell Williams, and Lorde.

PYXIS POINTS | Arctic Monkeys’ new album, AM, is on the way March 10th, and is being prefaced by the band’s brand new single, “Arabella” | Speaking of Arctic Monkeys, they were dubbed 2013’s “most streamed” artist, while Moby’s Innocents album was named 2013’s “most shared torrent” | Blur’s Damon Albarn showcased a quartet of new songs from his upcoming solo album at the recent Sundance Festival last month, giving the audience an early listen to what his April 29 album Everyday Robots will sound like | And Real Estate’s new album, Atlas, is just out, with first single “Talking Backwards” now on MP3 outlets.  – Kristi Kates
