This year’s Mercury Music Prize has named its 12 finalists for 2014, with ROYAL BLOOD, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Blur/Gorillaz frontman-slash-solo artist  Damon Albarn as the top three frontrunners; Albarn’s 2014 solo album Everyday Robots, in particular, has snagged him plenty of kudos. Also on the shortlist are new performer FKA Twigs, who most recently did a buzz cover of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,Jungle, and Anna Calvi – find out who wins on October 29.

Singer-songwriter ED SHEERAN snagged his first MTV Video Music Award back in August – that being the Best Male Video for “Sing” – and since then, he’s been expanding his sound with a couple of unexpected collaborators. He’s both working on a couple of songs with French house DJ/producer David Guetta, and has also teamed up with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix to record what Sheeran called “his very first EDM song” – you may have already seen the Instagram photo Sheeran posted of himself and Garrix looking giddy in the studio.

If you haven’t peeked at your RADIOHEAD PolyFauna app lately, then you might want to do so now – the band have recently updated the app with some brand new music that is full of clues as to what the next Radiohead album will sound like. While guitarist Jonny Greenwood called the band “a slow moving animal,” in part due to the bandmates many side projects, they are indeed finally at work as a whole on their new songs, although a release date for Radiohead’s latest has yet to be announced.
