FOSTER THE PEOPLE, Lana Del Rey, Fitz and the Tantrums, Chromeo, Bombay Bicycle Club, and more are on the roster for this year’s Sweetlife Festival, with the focus on music, music, music – and food, food, food, including goods from East Coast organic food shop Sweetgreen (the fest’s main sponsor) and a wide range of farmers’ booths, chefs, and specialty food trucks. The event will take place at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, with tix on sale now for the May 10 festival.

SWANS have taken their avant-rock to a recording studio in El Paso, Texas, where they worked 12 to 14 hour days tracking the set, which they finally wrapped and titled To Be Kind. The album, which will drop on 5.13 in double CD, deluxe CD with live DVD, triple vinyl, and USB stick versions, is a typically eclectic mix for the NYC band, with some songs longwindedly wringing out frontman Michael Gira’s emotions to the nth degree, and others more, shall we say, direct.

JAKE BUGG will release a special live EP for Record Store Day 2014 – titled Live at Silver Platters, Seattle, the four-song disc will drop on January 19, and was recorded during one of the singer-songwriter’s Seattle shows this past January. On the short disc, Bugg performs several acoustic versions of tunes from his pair of albums to date, including his buzz hit “Lightning Bolt” and fan favourite “Trouble Town.”
